My name is Roeland, born and raised in the Netherlands. After meeting my love during my pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in the summer of 2003, I was sold, and since then, Spain has been my home. First, 5 years in Madrid, and now already 15 years on Mallorca. On Mallorca, our first business was the well-known yoga studio Zunray on Calle San Feliu. My wife Francesca already had experience with a big yoga studio in Madrid, so when we arrived on the island we embarked on the adventure together. After 11 years and a pandemic, we both wanted a change, and I decided to focus on another passion of mine: motorcycling.
In the Netherlands, my first bike was a Ducati Monster. In Madrid, we rode an Aprilia Pegaso, but it wasn’t until 2020 that I truly discovered Mallorca on motorcycle after purchasing a Royal Enfield Himalayan. Just like with my first Ducati Monster (1st gen.), I completely fell for the Himalayan’s look. Simple, round lines with a touch of retro. The fact that it’s so straightforward also really appealed to me since I love tinkering. It turned out to be a great choice. Mallorca is mostly about mountain riding, and the single-cylinder engine with plenty of torque in the low gears makes it easy and fun. The fact that you can also do a bit of off-roading makes it perfect. When you can keep going even after the road ends is what adds that extra sense of adventure.
After all these years I know Mallorca very well and with the desire to share the experience, I invested in a fleet of seven Royal Enfield Himalayans, offering individual rentals, small group vacation, and private tours. After having lived in the city center of Palma for ten years, we moved to a country house with a bit of land just outside Palma. A large garage where I can tinker to my heart’s content and just minutes from the mountains makes it the ideal base for Himalayan Tours Mallorca. I enjoy having people over, chatting over a cup of coffee while discussing routes, or preparing breakfast for a motorcyclist staying in our guesthouse. I am lucky to be able to combine my passion for motorcycles with my professional interest in hospitality (Hotel Management School Maastricht), resulting in what one of my guests described as “the best job in the world.”
If you’re already here or planning to visit Mallorca and have a motorcycle license, I hope to hear from you!
