Yes, you will be amazed. Mallorca is the biggest of all the Balearic islands and it offers a wealthy variety of scenery. High mountains, sea views, great roads and great weather! If your image of Mallorca is that of a touristy party island, it's very incomplete and you are missing out. There is the party scene that comes out in the news every once in a while but you won't even know it exists (unless you want to). I was skeptical when my wife first took me here 20 years ago but was immediately sold. It took another 3 years to make the move, but now we have been here happily for 16 years.

This is a 400cc motorcycle so you will need a specific motorcycle license. Only scooters up to a maximum 125cc can be ridden with a car license in Spain provided you have had the license for at least three years. For Europeans a standardized license an A2 (beginner motorcycle license) or A (full license) is what you need. 

For riders from non EU countries your license needs to specifically state that it is valid for motorcycles.  It's recommended to get an IDP (international driving permit) which is basically a translation of your license that you can get from your local AAA and doesn't cost much. Although we might allow you to rent without an IDP (provided your license is in Spanish or English and clearly for motorcycles) if it isn't easily readable by Spanish authorities then driving without an IDP could result in fines. It has never happened but it seems technically possible.stopped. For driving licenses is in another language than English or Spanish, and IDP is mandatory. You can only get an IDP in the country that your license is from, so make sure to do this before you travel. IDP is only valid in combination with your original driving license, never on its own.

** important **  If you have been a resident in Spain for more than six months you can only rent with a Spanish driving license. Renting with your original driving license will void the liability and damage insurance completely.    

Your are fully covered. Third party liability up to 50 million €. Driver personal injury protection up to 10.000€ with a deductible of 500€. Collision damage waiver with deductible of only 200€. The CDW is void if the damage results from irresponsible driving (ex. running a red light, overtaking where it is not allowed etc.) A passenger/pillion is considered third party in Spain and therefore always covered.

Yes, but mostly for your own sake. Riding mountains requires skills that most riders from flat countries don't use much. You'll get to develop these skills here but in order to focus on that you want to be secure in your basic riding skills. You have a motorcycle license, so we assume you have a minimum of hours under your belt. There is no formal minimum requirement of riding hours or time that you have had your license. Fortunately, the Royal Enfield Himalayan is a bike that most people feel comfortable on very quickly and very suitable for the mountain roads. 

First gear is your friend on steep hairpin climbs. Staying in second gear and playing with the clutch might result in a stalling engine. If this happens in a corner with an inclination it can be a challenge to keep the bike up right. The bike runs well in first gear and you have all the power to stay in control. Going down hairpins, there is no need to go back to first gear, it will slow you down too much. Stay in second, brake well before entering the corner and use some rear brake through the corner if necessary. At really slow speeds you can touch the clutch a little bit to smooth out the experience. Do use your front brake when you can because going down on the back brake alone will not give you sufficient braking power and the brake might overheat. If you want to safely enjoy the speedier windy roads in the mountains and keep some pace, I definitely recommend the technique of trailbraking. Rather than me explaining the details, better to watch some youtube videos.

Peace of mind. You are responsible for damage to the motorbike up to a maximum of only 200€ (unless agreed otherwise). This is unique on Mallorca. Standard deductible usually varies between 1200€ and 2500€. 
Damage insurance is void if the damage results from irresponsible driving (ex. running a red light, overtaking where it is not allowed etc.) In the event of an accident that involves another vehicle, you are legally obliged to fill out an insurance form which all parties involved must sign. All bikes have this form underneath the buddy seat. If you fail to do so you, or flee the scene, you will be held responsible for the full amount of damage. 

No, you just pay for cost of replacement parts, for example: Turn signal 30€, clutch or brake lever 30€. Rearview mirror: 25€. Windscreen 45€. Bent handlebars 80€. Number plate light 30€. You will not be charged for scratches to the handlebar ends and engine protectors. Be a good sport, please let us know if the bike has fallen over so we can make the proper assessment of damage. Many times there is no other damage than the scratches so there will be no cost to you. Yet another good reason to rent a Himalayan: peace of mind. Renting a high end bike and accidentally dropping it will set you back hundreds of euros.

If you need urgent medical attention, the first thing to do is to call the emergency number 112. If you need medical attention but less urgent call Himalayan Tours Mallorca first. We will go out of our way to help you, advise you or meet you at the nearest hospital to help with translation or anything else to make sure it all goes smoothly.

The standard rate comes with unlimited kms/miles. If you rent for several days or/and don't want to be on the bike all day, there's a special lower rate with 100km a day included. This doesn't sound like much, but for most people that stay for 5 days or more, it works. Miles in the mountains go a long way. If you do more kms, no problem, you just pay the extra kms at a 0,30€ per km.

One good quality open face helmet is included per bike. We have some full-face helmets as well but if this is important to you, let us know when making your reservation to see what's available. Since a lot of people prefer to bring their own gear we charge separately for additional gear like extra helmets, jackets and gloves, and thus not increasing the rental cost for everybody. Check-out cost on the rental page. Small items like mobile phone holders, cables, disc locks and bungees are available free of charge. All motorcycles are equipped with USB-chargers.

Yes, day rentals are available. Pick-up in the morning from 9:00 and drop-off in the evening before 19:00. If you want to pick up the night before there is a surcharge of 15€.

The motorcycle is typically provided with a full tank of fuel and should be returned with a full tank. You can fill up with unleaded 95 (or 98). If you are pressed for time and weren't able to fill it up, no worries, you just pay for the missing fuel. 7,50€ per quarter tank.

It's the road to Sa Calobra. It's a road that will take you from 900 meters to sea level in about 12 km. It's amazing and should be on any motorcyclist's bucket list. In the winter you can go at any time of the day and you will have the place to yourself. In the spring and summer you have to try to hit it early morning (before 10:00) or after 16:00 because it does get busy with bus tourists. You will find Sa Calobra on the ma-10 going north from Soller.  Another spectacular road is the road from Port de Pollença to Cap Formentor.  This road is usually closed fro motor traffic from 1 June to 30 September.

Yes, if you have any technical problems with the motorcycle, we'll come to you as soon as possible and either fix or exchange your motorbike so you can continue without much delay. If you need assistance because of your own wrongdoing, accident or fall, we're equally available to help. In this case minor costs like gas to transport you or the bike will be passed on to you. 

The Royal Enfield Himalayan is designed for on and off-road and we're probably the only agency on Mallorca that lets you take the motorbike off the paved path. Consider the following advice: don't go off-road with a pillion or in wet or rainy conditions. If you are more than one, give each other space and move predictably. The liability insurance does not apply for damage caused between motorbikes of Himalayan Tours Mallorca. Liability insurance also does not apply if you are not on a road that is considered public. Wear protective clothing not just a jacket and gloves but pants as well. We have some routes prepared with some unpaved stretches included. If you want a more intense experience you can book a guide. 

A security deposit is required, for the amount of the deductible of 200€. This can be held on a credit card or be paid in cash. Deposits on debit-cards might incur an extra fee, depending on your card and the way the deposit is blocked. Your deposit will be refunded when you return the motorcycle without delay. Additional fees may apply for loss of or failure to return free accessories like mobile phone holder, disc lock, charging cables etc.. or late returns.

Yes, the easiest way is to book through whatsapp, so we can answer your questions right away.  If you are sure of everything you can also use the online shop. If you make a late-night booking online for the next morning also send a message through WhatsApp (doesn't matter what time) so we'll be ready for you. Please don't show up unannounced.  The daily opening times 9:00-19:00 is the schedule for pick-up an return but you need to let us know when within this timeframe. If more people have reservations for the same day we'll agree a time slot in advance so we have plenty of time for everybody.

Himalayan Tours Mallorca can provide routes in Myroute-App, a great navigation app for your mobile phone. It has a two-week (no credit card needed) free trial for navigation. The only thing you have to do is create an account and share your username or email with us, so we can easily share routes with you.  A phone holder is available free of charge and all motorbikes are equipped with usb-chargers.                    

Use designated motorcycle parking areas, especially in urban areas. If that's not available and you are not in a paid parking area, you can use the spots for cars as well. Motorcycles do not pay for parking on the street. Sometimes road signs may be confusing, so when in doubt just send us a message to double check. Please ask your hotel or rental home if a private parking is available for overnight parking. If this is not the case we will provide you with a disc lock. Make sure if you park overnight on the street that you are not in between cars or in an area with nightlife that pours out on the street. Fortunately, motorcycle theft is not common on the island and all motorbikes are equipped with GPS-trackers. 

Yes, it happens, mostly for parking or entering restricted zones. Parking on the sidewalk, like in other countries, is not accepted by the authorities on Mallorca. Especially when there are designated areas for motorbikes nearby. Stay away from yellow lines, even if you think you are not in the way. Mallorca is also increasingly equipped with speed cameras. Pay special attention in the 40-zones in Palma and the beautiful road along the coast, the ma-10 where the speed limit is 60km/h. Fines for speeding or parking (if not left on the motorbike) will usually come after 2 months. We will contact you and if you are willing to pay right away, we pay the fine in your name so you can enjoy a 50% discount. If you don't want to pay, we're obliged to identify you as the driver of the vehicle. The Spanish traffic authority (DGT) will usually contact you directly or otherwise indirectly through an agreement with your national traffic authority. 50% discount on the fine in this stage is not available anymore. 

The standard motorbikes have a seat height of 80cm. We have one lowered Himalayan available with the seat at 76,5cm. Recommended for people 160-168cm. This is an idea and might not be fully accurate given the fact that leg length is the key factor here. There is also a seat available with some of the foam removed which reduces the seat height with 2cm. If you need a lowered one or have doubts, just get in touch. 

There are many nice places to stay on Mallorca. Port de Sóller in the warmer months and Sóller in the winter months are our favorite places to stay. We have a couple of hotel suggestions that you can book as part of a whole vacation package or you can arrange it yourself. Especially out of season (nov-march) some but not all hotels drop their prices significantly and you might get a really good deal. You can also choose to stay in our guest quarters. Friendly priced with breakfast included and daily contact with yours truly.  

Let's face it, the Royal Enfield Himalayan 411 is not famous for its horsepower and some people might be put off by the idea of a mere 25HP. Well, for the type of riding I suggest you do here on Mallorca, you don't need much more. Almost everybody that has rented a motorbike so far, has a more powerful bike at home, Electra Glide, 1200GS, ZZR, you name it. For the type of riding here, they all agree that this bike is great. Lots of torque, easy maneuvering through hairpins and very important if anything goes wrong the damage is usually minimal.
